Description

This Hayfield book is all about Aran knitting made easy. it has been created for knitters who already have good basic knitting skills and are now ready to learn how to cable. There's nothing more exciting than the elation you feel where you've mastered a new knitting technique and have a beautifully finished garment to show for your efforts and this book is designed to show you how.

There are 3 essential parts – our definitive guide to Aran knitting, which will take you step by step through your first cable stitches, the instructions for each of the garments and inspiring colour pages showing the designs.

Cables look more complicated than they are to create and we've chosen three of the most popular stitches used in Aran knitting – the rope cable, the hourglass cable and the wheatear cable – and combined them with other easy-to-knit textures including Irish Moss Stitch, Bramble stitch, garter stitch ladders, and ribs. We suggest that you practice your new skills by knitting the small sample squares in the guide so that you feel entirely confident with your cabling when you start to knit your garment.

Once you've mastered the stitches, there are 15 easy Aran designs to choose from with classic styles for all the family. There's the easiest rope cable sweater to knit with a polo neck or vee neck and raglan-sleeved cardies with round necks or shawl collar options. There are great styles for children with hoodies and sweaters to make in sizes form 2 years to adult. Many of the designs use simpler stitches on the sleeves and backs … leaving more time for you to concentrate on your stunning cabling.
